The importance of outdoor classes
Nowadays, in the era of digital learning and remote work, people often struggle with the feeling of fatigue, gloominess or even a burnout. Not only do they have a problem focusing, but also struggle to get the important things done.
Thus, we believe it is important to take breaks and implement effortless activities such as going for a five-minute walk or stretching to relieve stress.
This is why we take our classes outside! While planning our Erasmus+ courses we provide an open and calm space to the participants so as to increase their productivity and fulfillment at the end of the course.
This month a group of trainees participated in open-air classes that consisted of developing new ideas, sharing opinions, doing assignments and even learning yoga. Erasmus+ teachers were able to gain more knowledge in many fields while having a good time, laughing and enjoying nature.
Participants, when asked about the course, shared the opinion that spending time outside contributed to building stronger connections with colleagues. They enjoyed the idea of outdoor activities, felt happy and relaxed. We could hear them laughing and talking a lot during completing assignments, which ensured us it was a great way of making them feel comfortable. Moreover, we could see their efficiency increase, as they were able to finish all the assignments quickly and effectively.
Trainees also spent time together in the garden of the Meštrović gallery where they were able to take part in project-based learning classes. Additionally, they visited Zvjezdano Selo-Mosor observatory to expand their knowledge about astrology and watch an unforgettable sunset. We believe that not only was it a great experience, but also an excellent reminder of how important nature is.
In the end, we are more than sure that conducting classes outside was a perfect way of learning and relieving stress simultaneously and teachers should do the same with their students, whenever possible.
