ERASMUS+ COURSES CROATIA – THE COORDINATOR OF “ACT PROJECT”
We are thrilled to announce that Erasmus+ Courses Croatia (Adult Education Center Maksima) is the coordinator of a project that is going to move the boundaries of how we teach and learn English as a foreign language. Together with our partners we are going to expand teachers’ knowledge on how to use drama based activities to teach English in primary and secondary schools.
We were so pleased that the 1st Transnational Project Meeting for the „Act Communicate Transcend“ project took place in Split, Croatia from August 24th – 26th 2021. The meeting was hosted by Erasmus+ Courses Croatia and the attending partners were Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi (Turkey), Konya il milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü (Turkey), Comune di Corigliano-Rossano (Italy), Asociatia pentru Educatie si Formare ASEF (Romania), Teatar Tirena (Croatia), Conlan School (United Kingdom), and NATSIONALNA SHKOLA PO MENIDZHMANT (Bulgaria). We were very happy to welcome our partners to our beautiful city on the Dalmatian coast!
We have brought together 8 partners from 6 different countries and employed 12 ESL teachers to bring this project to life and carry it out for 24 months. Our multicultural and diverse cross-sectoral cooperation includes a theatre company, a directorate, a university, two NGOs, an adult education center, and a foreign language school.
After all of the partners presented their organizations and got to know each other better, the lead coordinator from Erasmus+ Courses Croatia went over the entire project and defined some of the aims and project activities in detail.
On the second day of our meeting, we went over the project plan and talked about the different tasks and responsibilities of each partner organization. Having structure and good communication is essential to achieve our common goals.
To strengthen our partnerships even further we had a social event, the Cluego city escape game, in which all of the partners participated. During that team-building activity, our partners got to know each other and our beautiful Diocletian’s Palace in Split better!
During the last day of the 1st Transnational Project meeting, we got to hear a presentation by our Turkish partners from the Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi about a unique speaking assessment rubric for drama-based learning activities. To further develop the rubric, which will play an important part in the ACT project, all of the partners shared their opinions and made suggestions. Having partners from different countries, cultures and organizations provides us with a unique set of skills and experiences, which will be beneficial for our project.
After this successful first meeting, we are already looking forward to everything that the project will bring in the near future and continuing to work with this extraordinary group of people!
ACT – Act Communicate Transcend Project funded by Erasmus+ approved by AMPEU Agencija za mobilnost i programe Europske unije will last from May 2021 until June 2023.
The aims of our project are to assist the progress of learning English as a foreign language, in particular speaking skills, by developing a speaking assessment rubric, a set of training materials, a drama-based activity book, and, finally, an e-learning platform which will unite all previously mentioned intellectual outputs and be made available for use both for teachers and their students even after the project is finalized, to develop new and innovative teaching methods and implement these directly into practice as well as professional development through project work.
