Course Description

Building a Positive and Engaging Classroom Environment

This course is designed for today’s educators who aim to create well-managed, engaging, and student-centered classrooms. Participants will explore how to build a strong rapport with students and promote a respectful, inclusive atmosphere. Key elements include establishing clear classroom rules, using reflective practices, and utilizing teacher observations to maintain a calm and effective learning space.

Motivation, Collaboration, and Student Reflection

Teachers will learn motivational techniques based on the ARCS model—Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction—to enhance student engagement. Group work, pair activities, and collaborative strategies will be emphasized to foster peer interaction and responsibility. Educators will also gain strategies for guiding students to reflect on their behavior and contribute to a more cooperative classroom dynamic.

Innovative Assessment and Practical Classroom Tools

A core component of the course is the integration of modern formative assessment tools that support individualized instruction and improved learning outcomes. By adopting these approaches, educators will better understand their students’ progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Our resident psychologist and Mindfulness instructor, Dario Caljkusic, holds an Honors degree from Lewis & Clark College, in Portland, Oregon, USA. His course is both engaging and thought-provoking, entertaining yet introspective.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants are going to acquire the following competencies:

• Address challenging student behaviors through collaborative, solution-oriented approaches
• Promote fairness and clarity by meeting student expectations, facilitating structured pair and group work, and building strong relationships

• Apply innovative formative assessment tools and techniques to better understand and support individual student needs
• Create and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment
