Build a Foundation in Coding and Bring That Knowledge Into Your Classroom

This Erasmus+ KA1 training course is designed to develop your computational, creative, and critical thinking skills. Coding and programming continue to be some of the fastest-growing fields of the 2020s, with constant expansion as new technologies emerge. For this reason, gaining a solid understanding of how computers and digital systems function is increasingly valuable. Throughout the course, you will begin creating your own simple programs and learn how to effectively introduce these concepts to your students.

Promote Playful Learning Using Scratch as an Engaging Digital Tool

Our skilled Erasmus trainers will show you how to work with Scratch—the world’s largest coding community, known for its intuitive and child-friendly graphical interface. You will quickly learn how to build interactive stories, animations, and even basic games. Scratch is available in more than 70 languages and is widely used across the globe, making it an ideal starting point for beginners of all ages. During the course, you will explore key programming concepts such as loops, variables, and conditional statements. Most importantly, you will also apply this knowledge in Python, a widely used programming language, and learn how to design your very first algorithm by applying the logic gained from working in Scratch.

Strengthen Practical Coding Skills Through Creative, Hands-On Activities

Overall, this Erasmus course places strong emphasis on developing practical abilities and problem-solving strategies. While it introduces the essential theoretical foundations of programming, it primarily focuses on doing and creating. By the end of the week, you will feel confident guiding your students through fun coding tasks, helping them take their first steps toward future digital competencies.

Learning Outcomes

By completing this course, participants will gain the ability to:

• Understand basic programming terminology (e.g., computational thinking, algorithm, variable).
• Navigate and apply the Scratch platform.
• Design classroom-ready educational games using Scratch.
• Read and write introductory Python code.
• Use conditional statements, variables, and loops within a program.
• Approach challenges by applying programming logic to solve problems.
• Work with existing programming modules.
• Create their own coding challenges to support teaching programming concepts.
