COURSE DESCRIPTION

Explore the fundamentals of coding and bring them into your classroom

This Erasmus+ KA1 course is designed to strengthen your critical, creative, and computational thinking skills. Coding and programming continue to grow rapidly in the digital age, becoming essential components of modern education. Understanding the basic logic behind computers and their programs is increasingly valuable for teachers and students alike. During this course, you will learn how to create your own digital content and discover effective ways to integrate it into your teaching practice to motivate and inspire your students.

Promote playful, hands-on learning through the Scratch digital tool

Our experienced Erasmus+ trainers will guide you through Scratch — the world’s largest coding community, known for its simple and intuitive graphical interface. You will learn how to build digital stories, animations, and even interactive games with ease. Scratch is available in more than 70 languages and is widely recognized as an ideal introduction to coding for learners of all ages. Throughout the course, you will explore key programming concepts such as variables, loops, and conditionals. Using this foundation, you will then transition to working with Python, applying your knowledge of computer logic to write your first algorithm.

Gain practical coding skills through a creative, hands-on approach

In essence, this Erasmus course places strong emphasis on developing practical problem-solving abilities. It provides just the right amount of theory needed to understand the basics of programming while focusing heavily on real-world application. By the end of the course, you will be equipped to creatively engage your students and offer them a solid starting point on their own digital learning journey.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Participants will develop the ability to:

• Understand basic programming concepts (computational thinking, algorithms, variables, etc.)
• Use the Scratch platform confidently
• Design educational games and activities using Scratch
• Read and write Python code
• Apply variables, conditionals, and loops within programs
• Approach problem-solving through coding
• Use ready-made programming modules effectively
• Create original coding challenges for classroom instruction
