Inspiring Leadership and Cultural Exchange in Split From April 11 to 17 I had the opportunity to join the course “Strategic Leadership and Management for Principals, Vice Principals and Other School Policymakers” in Split. That week the training centre "MAKSIMA" (Ul. Nikole Tesle 16A, Split) welcomed 101 participants from 15 countries, creating a truly inspiring international atmosphere. What stood out most to me was how openly we shared challenges and worked together on practical solutions. Stepping into leadership roles during activities made the experience very real, helping me reflect on my own approach to decision-making. The sessions were engaging and varied—even taking place outdoors at times—which kept the energy high. A big takeaway for me was the importance of soft skills in leadership—not just understanding them, but thinking about how to develop them within our own school communities. Beyond the learning, experiencing Dalmatian culture and meeting such passionate educators at the training centre "MAKSIMA" made the week especially memorable. I left Split feeling motivated, more confident in my leadership perspective and grateful for the connections I made. Jelena M. It was wonderful to meet so many people from different countries who are working for the same cause but in different ways. I highly recommend going on a course at the beginning of accreditation because it gives you lots of contacts to make use of. The course itself "Collaboration; Teamwork and Teambuilding" was superbly led by Dario who carried out many exercises with us and stories that gave us the opportunity to think about what is important in our work with teaching and daily life. Experiencing the Croatian culture gives an additional positive framework to the course.Posted on Teresa Olofsson2026-04-19Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. COURSE DESCRIPTION
Across the world, education systems are increasingly highlighting the importance of strong leadership and effective management in schools. Leadership practices have a significant influence on organizational culture, staff motivation, and overall school performance. In fact, the quality of school leadership plays a central role in improving both equity and efficiency within the education sector.

This Erasmus+ KA1 training has been specially designed to support school principals, deputy principals, and educational policymakers in strengthening their leadership capacity. Throughout the course, participants will explore essential components of successful school leadership: organizational management, meaningful school visits, conflict-resolution methods, advanced communication practices, problem-solving strategies, stress-reduction techniques, relaxation methods, school-focused PR strategies, and the subtle yet powerful elements of effective leadership.

The programme offers practical guidance on the strategic and operational aspects of running a school. Whether participants are looking to enhance the organizational structure of their institution, improve their approach to teamwork, or refine communication with stakeholders, this course addresses the complex realities school leaders navigate daily.

Through collaborative workshops, real-life case studies, and group discussions, participants gain deeper insight into leadership principles and their practical application. This course acts as a well-rounded guide for principals, vice-principals, and policymakers who aim to elevate their leadership skills and contribute positively to the growth and well-being of their school communities.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Apply Effective Conflict Resolution Approaches and Encourage Collaboration
Implement tried-and-tested conflict management techniques to navigate interpersonal or organizational challenges. Strengthen cooperation, teamwork, and teambuilding by creating opportunities for joint activities, workshops, and collaborative projects. Leaders who promote active communication and shared understanding help build a resilient and supportive school culture.
Develop Your Leadership by Strengthening Your Soft Skills
Enhance essential soft skills that prevent burnout and improve day-to-day functioning for you and your team. Gain awareness of non-verbal communication and learn how to use it deliberately when interacting with staff and students to improve overall school dynamics.
Advance Your Communication Competence
Improve communication strategies to build constructive relationships with teachers, students, families, and wider stakeholders. By promoting transparent and positive communication patterns, school leaders help foster a trusting and harmonious environment. Effective leaders model healthy communication habits that encourage respectful dialogue and stronger community bonds.
Use Critical Thinking to Address Problems Efficiently
Apply structured problem-solving and critical thinking methods to overcome everyday and long-term challenges within the educational context. Improve your decision-making processes and guide your team with clarity and confidence.

Build and Demonstrate Inspiring Leadership Skills
Develop leadership qualities that motivate and engage staff, contributing to a positive school atmosphere that supports growth for both educators and students. Learn how to embody the traits of a leader who inspires others through action, communication, and vision.

Throughout the week, educators will have the opportunity to visit a variety of Croatian institutions—secondary schools, VET schools, Regional Centers of Excellence, and active Erasmus+ primary schools.
