Course Description

As industries evolve, Vocational Education and Training (VET) must prepare students with both technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills. This course helps educators integrate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) principles into VET programs, turning traditional training into dynamic, hands-on learning that connects theory with real-world application.

Participants will discover how project-based learning, digital tools, and creative thinking can enrich vocational subjects—whether in mechanics, hospitality, ICT, tourism, or more —and make them more engaging and future-oriented.

By the end of the course, educators will know how to design and implement STEAM-inspired projects tailored to their students’ professional pathways.

STEAM IN THE CONTEXT OF VET

Participants will explore:

• What STEAM means in vocational education
• How to integrate arts and creativity into technical and scientific subjects
• How innovation and entrepreneurship link to vocational learning
• Examples of successful STEAM-based VET projects across Europe

This module highlights how STEAM bridges creativity, technology, and employability, making VET programs more appealing and relevant to the modern job market.

Hands-on sessions include:

• Designing interdisciplinary, problem-based projects connected to real workplace challenges
• Developing student-centered tasks that combine practical and creative elements
• Using digital tools in VET environments

Promoting teamwork, communication, and innovation through group projects

TOOLS AND RESOURCES FOR STEAM IN VET

This part introduces accessible tools and methods to support creative teaching:

• Free digital tools for design, prototyping, and collaboration
• Cross-curricular templates for project planning
• Techniques for assessing creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking

Educators will explore how technology and innovation can turn traditional workshops and labs into collaborative, future-ready learning spaces.
