Course Description

This course introduces participants to the well-known Finnish approach to education, often recognised internationally for its modern and highly effective teaching practices. Throughout the week, teachers explore the main principles that guide Finnish teacher training, with a strong focus on practical classroom applications. Many sessions take place outdoors to encourage movement, creativity and hands-on learning.

During the course, participants gain a clear overview of how Finnish educators design tasks and assignments, communicate with students, provide feedback and evaluation, and work with learners who have special needs. We also look at the “hidden curriculum” and how it influences school culture and student development. All methods presented can be used with learners of different ages and backgrounds.

Because the Finnish model is strongly centred on the student, the course follows the same philosophy. Activities and tasks are adapted together with the group to match your interests, goals and teaching context. Expect an active week filled with walking, playful exercises, teamwork and shared laughter.

Your trainer, Juhani Salo, brings a decade of experience from different levels of Finnish education, from primary school to university. Holding a Master’s degree in Pedagogy, Physical Education and Health Science, he has taught almost every school subject and has worked in nine countries. His curiosity for learning and personal growth, combined with his friendly style, creates an engaging atmosphere where participants can truly experience the spirit of Finnish education—while enjoying the relaxed setting of the Adriatic coast.
