COURSE DESCRIPTION

Learn Outside and Boost Educational & Social Outcomes

The benefits of Outdoor Learning experiences are profound. They enhance academic performance, personal growth, social development, and overall well-being, while also fostering environmental awareness. Outdoor Learning is a structured and purposeful approach guided by teachers, instructors, coaches, or mentors. A crucial element of this approach is understanding and engaging with the natural or urban environment where learning takes place. This Erasmus+ teacher training course emphasizes practical skills, knowledge sharing, and encouraging behavioral change to strengthen well-being and promote environmental responsibility.

Conduct Classes Across Diverse Outdoor Settings

Through interactive workshops and group activities, participants will explore the flexibility and richness of outdoor education. They will learn how to adapt formal learning to a variety of settings, including:

• Natural environments: forests, beaches, and green spaces
• Urban areas: parks, town squares, streets

Participants will gain strategies for teaching students to respect nature, preserve it, and develop a mindful connection to their surroundings.

Integrate Games and Project-Based Learning in Outdoor Contexts

Educators will discover how to teach soft skills, intercultural competence, and social development through interactive methods such as games, drama, and improvisation in outdoor settings. Participants will also practice project-based learning by creating educational videos in outdoor environments, reflecting on how to apply these methods in their own classrooms and institutions.

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

Participants will develop the following competences:

• Gain foundational knowledge of outdoor education pedagogy and experiential learning methods
• Acquire practical skills to implement experience-based learning in daily teaching practice
• Learn how to design and conduct active, experiential learning activities outside the classroom
• Explore innovative ways to use games, drama, and improvisation to promote “learning by doing”
• Understand how outdoor learning enhances personal growth, social skills, and student motivation
• Apply outdoor education to teach about environmental topics and sustainability
• Develop risk assessment strategies and apply safety measures during outdoor activities
