Course Description

Teachers have a crucial role in empowering students to understand climate change and take meaningful action toward environmental sustainability. As the climate crisis continues to impact communities around the world, it is vital that educators equip students with the knowledge and tools they need to respond effectively. This course provides an opportunity for teachers to reflect on their current practices and adopt new strategies to enhance climate education in their classrooms.

Explore the Science of Climate Change

Throughout the course, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the science behind climate change. Teachers will explore the most pressing consequences of the climate crisis and how these issues affect both local and global communities. The course will provide valuable resources to help explain complex climate concepts in a way that is accessible for students.

Practical Tools for Teaching Sustainability

Educators will discover innovative tools and strategies to help make climate change education engaging and impact. The course will cover how to organize debates and projects on environmental sustainability, fostering critical thinking and collaboration among students. Teachers will learn how to incorporate climate-related topics into classroom activities and create an environment that encourages students to take sustainable actions, both in and outside of the classroom.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of the course, participants will:

• Understand the scientific foundations of climate change and its global effects.
• Gain practical knowledge of tools that can be used to address climate change in educational settings.
• Be familiar with the key consequences of climate change, including social, environmental, and economic impacts.
• Learn how to organize and facilitate debates and projects that encourage students to explore solutions to the climate crisis.
• Empower students to engage in climate-conscious behaviors, both inside and outside the classroom, by encouraging sustainable actions.
• Integrate climate change education into classroom activities, enabling students to develop a critical awareness of sustainability.
