DUBROVNIK – The Strategic School Leader: Advanced Management and Policy Planning for Principals and VPs

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Leadership and management play a key role in the success of educational institutions. Effective leadership shapes school culture, motivates staff, improves communication, and supports equity and efficiency at all levels of education.

This Erasmus+ KA1 course is designed for principals, vice principals, and school policymakers who want to strengthen their strategic leadership and management competencies. Participants will explore essential topics such as school organisation, leadership styles, conflict resolution, communication skills, problem-solving, stress management, mindfulness, and public relations strategies for schools.

The course combines theory with practical activities, case studies, discussions, and school visits. Participants will gain insight into the Croatian educational system and observe how schools are organised, managed, and developed in practice. The course offers valuable opportunities for professional exchange, reflection, and networking with other school leaders across Europe.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Participants will acquire the following competences:

• Apply effective leadership and management strategies in school settings

• Improve communication with staff, students, parents, and stakeholders

• Use conflict resolution and teamwork techniques to strengthen school climate

• Develop problem-solving and decision-making skills

• Manage stress and prevent burnout through mindfulness and relaxation techniques

• Design basic PR strategies to promote schools and engage the community

• Plan and conduct meaningful school visits for professional development
