COURSE DESCRIPTION:
We proudly present the world – famous Finnish educational method, revered across the globe and hailed as the most contemporary and successful way of teaching.
In this limited course the participants will receive insight into the basic cornerstones of Finnish teacher training. The course will focus on practical, everyday solutions in and out of the classroom. A lot of the activities and exercises of the course will be presented in outdoor settings.
The participants will get first-hand insight into the Finnish way of task and assignment planning for students, communication skills and techniques, the basics of special education, the techniques to give feedback and evaluation and the critical outlook of the hidden curriculum. The methods can be used in students’ groups of all ages and backgrounds. And since the Finnish system is very student-based, the course will be adjusted in co-operation with the participants to match their needs and desires. The course will be as student-based and activating as possible. Prepare to do hiking, playing and laughing!
Despite his young age, the course teacher Juhani Salo has been teaching for a decade now in various positions in Finnish education ranging from a 2nd grade elementary school class teacher to a university teacher. Graduated as a Master in Pedagogy, Physical Education and Health Science, he has also taught almost every Finnish school subject as a substitute teacher in his wild youth. In addition, Juhani has gained international teaching experience in 9 countries. Juhani is infinitely curious about learning and growth and he is living his dream while sharing the pearls of the Finnish system to European colleagues in the warm and relaxed atmosphere of the Adriatic Sea.
