DUBROVNIK – Educate for Change – Reducing Climate Impact and Building a Sustainable Future

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Teachers play an essential part in guiding young people to understand climate change and the challenges our planet faces. Their influence helps students develop the knowledge, attitudes, and values needed to take responsible action. Because environmental issues are constantly evolving, it is important for educators to update their skills and rethink the way they teach.

This course offers a chance to explore practical strategies for bringing climate education into everyday classroom practice. Participants will examine current environmental trends, learn about effective teaching tools, and discover new ways to inspire students to think critically about sustainability. Working through discussions, group tasks, and hands-on activities, teachers will strengthen their ability to present climate topics in an engaging and meaningful way.

By the end of the training, educators will feel more confident in guiding students toward sustainable choices and encouraging them to see themselves as active contributors to a greener future.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Participants will:

• Explore the fundamental science behind climate change
• Understand the major impacts and consequences of the climate crisis
• Become familiar with helpful tools for addressing climate issues in the classroom
• Learn how to facilitate debates and projects related to environmental sustainability
• Incorporate students’ ideas and reflections about the climate crisis into everyday learning activities
