Address Bullying Proactively, With Empathy and Awareness

In many situations, by the time schools start responding to bullying, the harm has already been done. Prevention is the most effective approach. For this reason, we developed an Erasmus teacher training course focused on proactively addressing bullying and cyberbullying before they escalate.

Recent findings highlight that most bullying behaviours occur within school settings rather than on the way to or from school. Since approximately one in five students is likely to encounter some form of bullying, the urgency of strengthening preventive strategies is undeniable.

Understand the Underlying Causes Behind Harmful Behaviour

Bullying involves repeated aggressive actions, and teachers must be able to recognize not only the behaviour itself but also the motivations and intentions behind it. These behaviours can result in serious long-term emotional, psychological, and physical impacts.
Therefore, educators need the skills to notice early warning signs and to intervene appropriately.

This Erasmus+ KA1 course was designed in close cooperation with experienced school psychologists who have dedicated years to tackling bullying in educational environments.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Participants will develop the ability to:

• Gain a full overview of aggressive behaviour, including how to prevent it and how to follow school protocols when bullying has already taken place.

• Strengthen conflict-resolution abilities and learn methods for building healthier relationships among students.

• Use mindfulness as a supportive tool and practice critical-thinking and problem-solving activities that encourage students to appreciate differences and embrace diversity.

• Learn how to create and maintain a safe classroom atmosphere, identify the signs of bullying in both victims and perpetrators, and explore appropriate intervention strategies.

• Work with real case studies and discover how artistic expression can be used therapeutically to help students process emotions and experiences.
