COURSE DESCRIPTION

This comprehensive course explores the foundations of emotional intelligence and its practical applications in educational and developmental contexts. Participants will examine fundamental theories and definitions of emotions while developing their own emotional awareness across multiple levels. The course addresses practical strategies for managing difficult emotions in challenging situations, providing tools that can be immediately applied in professional and personal settings.

Drawing from the scientific origins of emotional intelligence, we’ll trace the development of EI frameworks and examine current measurement approaches used in research and practice. Through evidence-based methods, participants will learn how to build core emotional intelligence competencies that enhance both individual effectiveness and interpersonal relationships.

The course emphasizes socio-emotional learning (SEL) as an integral component of education and human development. Participants will gain practical knowledge on implementing SEL frameworks within school-based prevention programs, with particular attention to age-appropriate interventions and culturally responsive practices. Collaborative group work throughout the course allows participants to apply concepts in real-world scenarios, share experiences, and develop actionable strategies for their own educational or professional environments.

This course is ideal for educators, school counselors, program coordinators, and anyone interested in fostering emotional intelligence and social-emotional competencies in learning communities.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On this Erasmus teacher training course participants will deepen knowledge about emotions and their influence on our behaviour, self-image and relationships with others. This course will also provide an understanding of scientific roots of SEL.

Participants will improve knowledge, skills, and attitudes across five areas of social and emotional competence.

Participants will learn how to help their students to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

Through easily applicable group activities participants will also learn how SEL can be applied in their school prevention programs.
