We are thrilled to share the inspiring journey of our wonderful educators, Mr. Karl and Ms. Claire from Malta, who recently participated in the Erasmus+ Courses Croatia course on “Stress Management and Burnout Prevention” in beautiful Split, Croatia. Their reflection beautifully captures the essence of their transformative week, highlighting the engaging workshops, meaningful interactions, and practical tools they gained to effectively manage stress and prevent burnout.

In early September 2024, local educators Mr. Karl and Ms. Claire participated in a week-long Erasmus program titled “Stress Management and Burnout Prevention” in Split, Croatia. The program combined professional development with cultural immersion, highlighting the importance of living in the present, accepting emotions, and managing stress effectively.

Setting the Tone: Croatian Warmth and Cuisine

The event began with a warm welcome and introduced participants to Croatian concepts of relaxation, setting a calm, reflective tone for the days ahead. An international food party, where educators from various countries shared traditional dishes, paved the way for a week filled with engaging lectures, outdoor activities, and innovative teaching techniques.

Mindfulness in Action: Workshops that Inspire

The workshops focused on mindfulness, emotional balance, and effective stress management strategies. Participants engaged in mindful yoga exercises to help control emotions and reduce stress, while the captivating sessions led by Sir Dario left a lasting impression. His humor and practical tips on managing stress and maintaining emotional balance, both in the classroom and personally, resonated deeply.

Finding Inspiration in Nature

He emphasized the importance of building a positive relationship with stress, teaching educators to embrace it rather than resist it. The outdoor sessions, including a walk to Marjan Hill, added further inspiration, blending the stunning Croatian landscape with insightful discussions on handling stress.

Preventing Burnout: The Power of “No”

Throughout the week, participants learned valuable lessons about setting boundaries to prevent burnout, focusing on saying “no” when necessary and using breathing techniques to manage emotions in difficult situations. The concept of staying present and grounded in stressful moments became a central theme.

Ending on a High Note: Learning and Adventure Combined

The program also offered leisure activities, such as visits to islands and Krka National Park, where participants admired waterfalls, as well as meditation and role-playing exercises at Bene Beach. The course concluded with a fun treasure hunt and the awarding of certificates.

Both Mr. Karl and Ms. Claire left the program feeling energized and inspired, ready to implement new strategies in their teaching and maintain a mindful, balanced approach to life.

With warm regards,
Mr. Karl & Ms. Claire
